Age Calculator
Calculate your exact age in years, months and days from your date of birth.
How this age calculator works
Enter your date of birth and choose the date on which you want to calculate your age. The calculator shows your age in years, months and days, along with useful totals.
Understanding Your Exact Age
Knowing your exact age can be useful for much more than simply celebrating a birthday. Many forms, applications, registrations, financial documents, travel requirements, and personal records may require an accurate calculation based on a date of birth.
Age is usually expressed in completed years, but a more detailed result can also include months and days. This gives a clearer picture of the amount of time that has passed between a birth date and a selected date.
Calendar-based calculations can sometimes be confusing because months do not all contain the same number of days. Some months have 30 days, others have 31, while February normally has 28 days and has 29 days during a leap year. Because of these differences, simply dividing the total number of days by 365 does not always provide a precise calendar result.
Our Age Calculator helps you quickly determine your age using your date of birth and a selected calculation date.

How Exact Age Is Calculated
An exact calculation compares your date of birth with the date on which you want to determine your age. The completed years are calculated first, followed by the remaining completed months and days.
For example, suppose someone was born on January 15, 1990. If the selected calculation date is later in 2026, the result would first determine how many complete years have passed since January 15, 1990. It would then calculate the additional months and days after the person’s most recent birthday.
This method provides a more useful result than displaying completed years alone.
Why Months Have Different Lengths
One important part of date calculations is understanding the calendar. January has 31 days, while April has 30. February is shorter and changes during leap years.
Leap years are necessary because a calendar year is not exactly 365 days long. An extra day is periodically added to February to keep the calendar aligned more closely with Earth’s movement around the Sun.
These calendar differences are why accurate date calculations should work with actual calendar dates rather than assuming every month contains the same number of days.

Common Reasons to Calculate Your Age
There are many situations where knowing an exact age may be helpful. You might need it when completing an application, checking eligibility requirements, preparing personal records, planning an event, or determining the amount of time between important dates.
Parents may also want to calculate the age of a child in years, months, and days. The same approach can be useful for school enrollment dates, anniversaries, memberships, competitions, and other situations where an exact date matters.
The Age Calculator on LivingToolsGuide makes this process easier by performing the calendar calculation automatically after you enter the required dates.
Understanding the Result
When reviewing your result, remember that completed years represent full years that have already passed. The remaining months and days show the additional time since your most recent birthday.
For example, a result of 35 years, 4 months, and 12 days means that 35 complete years have passed, followed by another four complete months and twelve days.
Always enter the correct date of birth and calculation date for the most useful result.
